MBE magazine is published bi-monthly by Minority Business Entrepreneur and serves as a nationwide forum for minority and women business owners, corporations and government agencies concerned with minority enterprise development.

MBE magazine examines affirmative action and procurement programs in the public and private sectors, and provides in-depth coverage of crucial issues affecting the growth and survival of minority- and woman-owned businesses. Each issue also features the success story of a prominent minority or female entrepreneur whose life and accomplishments may serve as a role model for others.

Founded in 1984, MBE magazine has maintained a strong commitment to economic parity as a lasting solution to the ills of poverty and discrimination and has as its mission to:

Inform - by reporting on issues critical to the growth and development of minority owned firms;

Educate - by examining the purpose and intent of minority business development legislation and programs; and

Inspire - by featuring in depth profiles of successful entrepreneurs in a wide range of industries, whose accomplishments make them outstanding role models for others.

Ginger Conrad has more than 30 years experience in magazine publishing. A nationally recognized expert on business development issues, Ms. Conrad has appeared on nationally syndicated television and radio programs and is a much sought after keynote speaker and panelist. Highly regarded as a dedicated media advocate for minority and women's enterprise development, Ms. Conrad has been honored by the public and private sectors for her many efforts and outstanding achievements.

 

Barbara Oliver oversees advertising sales, marketing and public relations for the magazine. In addition to her full-time responsibilities with the magazine, Barbara represents the publication as an active member of several local and national trade organizations and has served on the Boards of Directors of the Airport Minority Advisory Council, the MultiCultural Foodservice and Hospitality Alliance, International Franchise Association Diversity Advisory Committee and the Minorities in Franchising Committee. She travels extensively representing the magazine at trade shows and conferences throughout the country. A native of Jamaica, West Indies, Barbara moved to Los Angeles, California in 1977. She joined MBE magazine in 1989 after graduating from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, Southern California Campus. She currently lives in Henderson, Nevada, with her family.

 

Emily Richwine is editor of MBE magazine. She has a background in print journalism and worked for several newspapers as a reporter before joining MBE. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalistic Communication from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
