Increase Brand Value: Shift Perspective And Optimize Performance

CMO & MWBE Brandi Chew scales for herself and others

“Optimization” should make life easier. Right? Well, sometimes before you can optimize approach, process and yes—technology, you have to update your own thinking. Brandi Chew, chief marketing officer at Brandit Strategies, realized in order to change the impact she makes in her space, she had to first change the way she thought about executing day-to-day responsibilities—and that’s exactly what she did. Along Brandi’s journey to deliver on her brand promise, which she claims is the key to business success, she continues to fuel her passion for growth by combating blanket marketing efforts with scalable strategies that leverage data and insights in order to directly elevate the communities she serves. It’s time to dive in. Let’s see how Brandi ensures her brand promise, while maintaining an attitude that empowers positive growth.

Beyond the Logo: Why is keeping your promise so important?

Brandi: Keeping your promise is a clear sign of integrity—something I deeply value and live by. It shows people your character, and how trustworthy you are, and it fosters a culture of reliability and respect. Since trust is the foundation of any strong relationship, whether personal or professional, I have been able to develop deeper, more meaningful and long-lasting connections with clients, partners, and colleagues. And when integrity and trust are upheld, it always creates a positive, collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute their best.

Beyond the Logo: Where does vision come into this? How did you find your vision in building BrandIt Strategies?

Brandi: Vision is the driving force behind any successful venture. For me, the vision for BrandIt Strategies emerged from a blend of my passion for digital marketing and awareness of the gaps and opportunities within the industry. I realized early on that many businesses struggled with integrating data into their marketing efforts. This market was full of blind content creation and blanket strategies. This insight shaped my vision of creating a company that not only offers exceptional marketing services, but also empowers clients with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive in a digital-first world.

Jayne Agency Tip: Clarify your brand promise. When a brand promise is clear, the decisions around how to scale present themselves. Then the ability to assess technology needs becomes much easier, as business leaders can evaluate which programs serve their brand promise (allowing them to serve customers) – or detracts from it.

Beyond the Logo: Can you share your “AH-HA!” moment with Beyond the Logo readers?

Brandi: My big “AH-HA!” moment came when I truly understood the importance of scaling. In the early stages of my career, I poured so much energy and time into tasks that weren’t critical for growth, but just sustaining. It was only when I shifted my focus to scalable strategies that I saw so much growth. Scaling allowed me to optimize processes, delegate effectively, and leverage technology to amplify our efforts. This realization transformed my approach to business and made ownership a lot more manageable and rewarding. For other entrepreneurs, my advice is to identify areas where you can scale and prioritize those efforts to drive growth—it will save you a lot of time and energy.

Jayne Agency Tip: Determine the brand strategies your business needs to use to overcome each brand barrier, and in the process unlock a yellow brick road to success.

Beyond the Logo: What impact has your brand promise had on the world around you?

Brandi: Keeping my promises has had a great impact on my journey and people I’ve met along the way. It has built a reputation of reliability and trustworthiness for BrandIt Strategies, attracting clients who value integrity and long-term relationships. Our commitment to our promise really has fostered a loyal and motivated team, creating a positive workplace culture where everyone feels accountable and invested in our collective success.

Beyond the Logo: How do you contend with the highs and lows of being an entrepreneur? AND, being a practitioner AND a business owner?

Brandi: Getting through the highs and lows of entrepreneurship requires a lot of resilience and a clear focus on what truly matters. I manage the rollercoaster of business ownership by always prioritizing the best interests of our clients and the business. This principle guides my decision-making and helps maintain a steady course, even when challenges come up. Also, having a strong support system and a dedicated team allows me to share the burdens and celebrate the successes together, making the journey more manageable and enjoyable.

Jayne Agency Tip: Annual brand planning tools help inspire new thinking and creative ways to overcome barriers. Most importantly, they open opportunities for brands, teams, and companies.

Beyond the Logo: Talk about resilience as a business owner, a creator and an innovator. What grace have you found in failures?

Brandi: Resilience is the literal cornerstone of success in any field. As a business owner, I’ve faced numerous setbacks and failures along the way. Each failure has been a learning opportunity, teaching me invaluable lessons and building my wisdom and strength unimaginably. Resilience doesn’t mean just getting through a tough situation, it means bouncing back stronger, applying the lessons learned, and continuing to push forward despite obstacles.

Beyond the Logo: What are you seeing in the category of creation, innovation and media that you want to have others TALKING ABOUT? What (or who) is getting your attention, and why?

Brandi: The rapid advancements in AI and technology are revolutionizing the creation, innovation, and media sectors. AI engineering in particular (and my favorite), is opening up new possibilities for automating services/operations, analyzing data, and enhancing user experiences. I’m really excited about developing software products that leverage AI to make life easier for our clients and customers. This market offers endless opportunities for innovation, and I believe it’s crucial for everyone in the industry to stay informed and engaged with these developments.

Beyond the Logo: How do you make an impact in your space?

Brandi: I make an impact mainly by giving opportunities to minorities and underprivileged communities. Whether through employment, internships, or mentorship programs, my goal is always to create space for these talented individuals to thrive. This commitment to diversity and inclusion not only enriches our team with a wide range of perspectives, but also helps bridge the gap for those who might not have had the same opportunities otherwise. It’s about making a meaningful difference in the industry and in people’s lives.

Jayne Agency Tip: Find ways to integrate ‘giveback’ into the brand platform. This helps ensure positive impact is a part of the brand promise—what the business delivers everyday—and outcomes that ensure goodness.

Beyond the logo: What happens if you don’t keep your promise? What happens to your business if your business doesn’t keep its promise? What advice do you have for emerging entrepreneurs if they don’t keep their promise?

Brandi: Failing to keep your promise destroys trust with clients, partners, and your team—leading to damaged relationships and a tarnished reputation. For emerging entrepreneurs, my advice is simple: always strive to keep your promises. Trust is the foundation of business success. If you maintain your integrity, you build a loyal client base and strong partnerships that will support your growth and longevity in the industry.
