Celebrity guests and local trailblazers will gather to provide interactive sessions, tools and resources to enhance professional and personal productivity
Women Warriors Summit returns for its second annual event on October 18, 2024 at the Marshall Health Network Arena. This year’s summit will focus on “the power of productivity,” encouraging attendees to learn techniques for mastering their agency in the workplace and at home. Founded by philanthropist and first lady of Marshall University Alys Smith, the Women Warriors Summit provides a platform for women across the Appalachian region to access developmental opportunities and forge meaningful connections that drive long-term success both professionally and personally.
The event will feature special guest and keynote speaker, country music superstar Trisha Yearwood. Trisha’s incredible journey from country music singer to bestselling author and successful entrepreneur has inspired women worldwide. At the Women Warrior Summit, attendees will learn more about her story and gain insights into her advice on perseverance, passion, and success in any path they choose.
“It is an incredible honor to speak at the Women Warriors Summit, a powerful platform dedicated to celebrating and empowering the remarkable women of West Virginia,” said Yearwood. “This summit is all about supporting each other through our shared journeys and personal stories of growth. I’m so excited to be a part of it.”
Award-winning journalist and entrepreneur Soledad O’Brien will return to emcee the event. It will also feature notable guests, including Emily Gregory, co-author of ‘Crucial Conversations,’ and empowering local panelists: Katie Kopp, clinical psychologist with the Department of Veterans Affairs; Diane Flynn, co-founder and CEO of Reboot Accel; Dr. Juli Fulks, head women’s basketball coach at Marshall University; and Cindy Carlisle, executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Foot Locker.
“It’s a privilege to be back as the emcee for the Women Warrior Summit,” said Soledad O’Brien. “I saw firsthand the important discussions that took place last year, and I’m looking forward to amplifying those voices even further this year. Productivity the perfect topic to follow, as it allows us to practice saying ‘no’ to the things that don’t support our big picture goals. We need to make the most of our precious time and resources. I’m looking forward to exploring this theme with such powerful women once again.”
“Last year’s summit was a resounding success, bringing together a diverse group of women to celebrate their achievements and share their personal stories,” said Alys Smith, Founder of Women Warriors Summit. “This year, we look forward to building on that foundation, providing a supportive space for attendees to collaborate, craft their purpose, and discover new strategies to cultivate the life they desire. Our focus on productivity will empower women to command their futures with confidence and intention.”
Throughout the summit, attendees can participate in educational training, interactive workshops, networking opportunities and panel discussions. These hands-on sessions are designed to equip women with the skills and tools needed to be more productive and purposeful in every facet of their lives. Highlights include the Crucial Conversations training, “Getting Things Done,” which will teach powerful skills for improving focus and productivity while fostering trust and efficiency with others. The skills and principles taught in this session are rooted in social science and can be applied to all aspects of life.
