Avangrid Names Jose Antonio Miranda CEO

Avangrid Power has appointed José Antonio Miranda Chief Executive Officer of Avangrid. Avangrid, a leading energy company in the U.S. and a member of the Iberdrola Group, operates regulated utilities and energy infrastructure across more than 20 states, serving millions of customers through its electric and gas networks and generation assets. 

With over two decades of global leadership experience in the energy sector, Miranda brings a proven track record of operational excellence, strategic growth, and innovation in the industry.

Since joining Avangrid in 2021, Miranda has held several key leadership roles, including President & CEO of Avangrid Power’s Onshore business and President & CEO of Avangrid Power. In these roles, he has overseen the strategic direction and operations of Avangrid’s extensive generation portfolio of over 10 GW of installed capacity across 21 U.S states. 

Under his leadership, Avangrid Power achieved significant milestones, including the commercial operation of over 1,000 MW of new projects, final investment decisions for almost 2,000 MW, and the signing or renegotiation of over 2,000 MW in power purchase agreements. In addition, Miranda also played a key role in advancing some of the company’s major infrastructure projects, including Vineyard Wind 1, the nation’s first utility-scale offshore wind energy project.
