Innovative procurement executive to strengthen corporate engagement, expand supplier opportunities, and advance national growth strategy

The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), the nation’s leading nonprofit advancing business opportunities for certified minority-owned businesses, announced the appointment of Phala K. Mire as Chief Operating Officer.

In this role, Mire will oversee NMSDC’s national operations and help drive strategic growth initiatives across the organization’s national network, including its Regional Affiliate offices throughout the United States. Her appointment reflects NMSDC’s continued commitment to strengthening connections between corporate members and qualified small businesses to meet the growing demand for supply chain diversity, innovation, and economic growth.

Mire brings extensive experience in operational leadership, procurement strategy, and organizational growth. Her expertise in financial stewardship and supplier engagement aligns closely with NMSDC’s mission to expand access to capital, contracts, and economic opportunity for minority-owned businesses nationwide.

She will report directly to Don Cravins Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of NMSDC.

“Phala’s leadership experience, operational expertise, and longstanding commitment to supplier development make her an exceptional addition to our executive team,” said Cravins. “As we continue expanding opportunities for minority-owned businesses and delivering increased value to our corporate members, her strategic insight and collaborative leadership will help accelerate NMSDC’s national impact.”

Mire joins NMSDC from WBEC Metro New York & Greater DMV, where she served as President and CEO. During her tenure, she led initiatives supporting entrepreneurs, women-owned businesses, and underserved communities while driving organizational growth and stakeholder engagement.

She also brings a deep understanding of the NMSDC ecosystem through prior leadership within one of the organization’s Regional Affiliate offices, where she developed strategic partnerships that expanded supplier opportunities and strengthened regional economic participation.

“I am honored to join NMSDC at such an important time for supplier diversity and economic growth,” said Mire. “NMSDC has long played a critical role in creating pathways for businesses to scale and compete nationally. I look forward to working with the team, affiliates, and corporate members to further strengthen the organization’s impact and help create greater opportunity for minority-owned businesses across the country.”
